Senior Scientist, Assay Development

Senior Scientist- Princeton, NJ Full Time

Our Company Story:  www.ricovr.com/about-us/

RICOVR Healthcare is an innovative, early-stage biotech startup revolutionizing point-of-care and home-health diagnostics. We were recognized in the Top 10 of technology startups in Princeton 2022 and one of Business Insiders Top 26 startups in 2021. Currently, a gap exists between point-of-care and lab-based diagnostics. While existing point-of-care diagnostic technologies are qualitative, lacking sensitivity and accuracy; clinical lab-based technologies are prohibitively expensive and require trained personnel, large equipment, and time-consuming sample analysis. Ricovr Healthcare aims to fill this gap by achieving lab-based machines’ sensitivity, accuracy, and quantification in a portable, low-cost format that enables accurate point-of-care applications for a wide range of health and diagnostic markers.

RICOVR’s platform technology utilizes a novel plasmonic fiber-optic absorbance biosensor (P-FAB) combined with functionalized nanoparticles to enable quantitative immunoassays at the point of care. We are at an inflection point in bringing this technology to market and seek to expand our scientific team. Suppose you want to be a part of commercializing a new technology at the interface of biology, chemistry, engineering, and healthcare while working with innovative and driven colleagues. In that case, you should reach out to us!

As a Senior Scientist at Ricovr Healthcare, you will provide tactical execution on our highest priority initiatives. You will collaborate with a diverse team across scientific and engineering disciplines to launch our first commercial product, including production scale-up and clinical validation studies. You will also be involved in developing new assays on the P-FAB platform. These responsibilities will require hypothesis-driven research, rigorous data collection, management according to proper quality and regulatory standards, problem-solving to achieve objectives creatively and effectively, and hands-on lab work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, and conduct experiments following good scientific principles and safe laboratory practices.
  • Lead research projects toward the development of new biosensor assays
  • Method development to support immunoassay commercialization, including test validation, product stability, and clinical studies
  • Implement GLP standards and set up SOPs with production partners
  • Work cooperatively with other members of the R&D team and across departments to achieve project milestones
  • Communicate results and ideas clearly to a diverse audience
  • Mentor and supervise junior scientists

Qualifications

    • Ph.D. or M.S. in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemical biology, biomedical engineering, or related discipline
    • Demonstrated ability to design and execute an independent research project
    • 3+ years of experience in immunoassay development such as ELISA, LFA, or SPR design and optimization; past success in assay commercialization is a plus
    • Knowledge and practical experience with protein modification, nanoparticle conjugation, and assay surface biofunctionalization strategies
  • Familiarity with the implementation of proper QA/QC procedures for production of in vitro diagnostics
  • Handling of biological and chemical reagents in an accurate and safe manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Utilization of proper statistics and plotting software such as GraphPad Prism, R, Minitab, etc.
